Ive been messing around with this for around 5 hours now and im no closer to solving the problem.
Media center now doesnt even detect the card properly.

I removed the card and all drivers just now then put it back in. Drivers installed and said it was okay. Ran media center and it found a card but thought it was an analogue card, I chose to set up the signal manually as DVB-T but the scan found no channels at all.

Ive tried uninstalling drivers etc but it seem totally dead. Win TV 7 finds no channels through the card either. The card doesnt appear to be listed in device manager either.

Hi all,

I have recently purchased this card for my new media centre. Very happy in general but I am having one prob and can't seem to find a specific fix in my searching:

The remote control works great in WinTV with no probs.

However, when used in Win 7 Media Centre it acts erratically, with a single press of some keys regist as a double press and some presses not recognised. Unfortunately it makes navigating the TV guide almost impossible (e.g. when I press down whilst on BBC1 it will jump to ITV).

Any ideas / new drivers?

Many thanks.

I recently installed version 2.1a, replacing my previous 1.3a version. I am having some problems with it.

The first problem is consistent. When I enter a new recording via TitanTV, it sets the record quality to "better". I have set the default to "fair" via the config menu, but that is being ignored. I have to edit the entry and change it by hand.

As suggested by Mr. X, I did a regedit and set the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\TVServer (on 32-bit OS)

CaptureAnalogVBI=0

from its default of 1. That did seem to cure the invalid PID problem I had been having with 1.3 versions later than 1.3a.

FWIW, the settings under "fair" are:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\TVServer\Fai r]
"AnalogBitrateMode"=dword:00000000
"AnalogBitrateAvg"=dword:0036ee80
"AnalogBitrateMin"=dword:0030d400
"AnalogBitrateMax"=dword:003d0900
(in decimal avg = 3600000, min = 3200000, max = 4000000 ).

However, I seem to have occasional recordings that act wierd. There was one tonight that instead of recording at that rate (which should produce a file of 4Gig or so for two hours), it recorded at a rate of 9500000 -- which is the value for best and two hour recording took 9.4 Gbyte.

In addition, although the scheduler had that recording as weekly recurring, it disappeared from the scheduler after finishing.

In even more addition, the last scheduled item on the list got duplicated.

I've attached a zip of the relevant log files.

Hello!

I have an external TV Tuner/Media Recorder called Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1950 that was recently purchased from NewEgg.com.

It seems to work just fine when I use their tuner program WinTV7 or Windows Media Center to watch or record TV shows.

Where I have the problem is when I use their composite input from my Super 8 video camera to record to my PC.

The sound and video display, during the recording, appears fine for several minutes but eventually the sound disappears and the video appears jerky on my monitor. I look through my videocamera viewfinder and the video and audio are fine.

I was told my their technical staff that I needed to update the sound card drivers. I have the HT Omega Striker 7.1. I updated the driver to: s81740v.zip for my Windows 7 64-bit system.

Unfortunately, I continue to have the same problem even with the updated Omega driver.

Do you have any suggestions?

I installed the new version and ran the channel scan. When it goes to launch wintv7, I get a dotnet framework error box. What's really bad is uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help. The same now goes for v1.3a as well as 1.2c I really don't want to have to redo my home server

I've been successfully using the PVR for a few days.
My one and only goal in buying it, is to offload HD programs from my Cable Box DVR onto my computer's hard drive, at the best possible resolution and bit rate, to make room for new recordings on my Cable Box DVR. I use the VGA port on my computer to playback to my HDTV. I'm not interested in burning captured HD video to DVD. Keeping it simple.

My only other desire is to remove unwanted portions (mainly commercials) from my .TS files. Obviously the removal tool in ArcSoft TotalMedia Studio won't help, because it does not edit the .TS file itself, it merely burns a DVD with the selected portions skipped.

So, how to reliably remove video from a source .TS file and create a destination .TS file. Haven't figured out a bullet-proof method yet.

The free software that comes very close to doing it right, is TSSplitter by FF Projects. But it's not perfect. The procedure I use:

1. Hookup DVR to PVR via Component.
2. Use TotalMedia Extreme / Capture Module, capture entire recording as one contiguous file. Configure as 1920x1080, max Bit Rate 13.5Mbs.
3. Using TSSplitter, split the resulting TS file into hundreds of 50MB (30 second) or 100MB (1 minute) files.
4. Go through the files and delete the ones with unwanted video.
5. Using TSSplitter again, re-join the remaining files into 1 .TS file.

For those who think steps 3 and 4 are somewhat unelegant, I have these thoughts. It isn't as arduous as it sounds, and takes only a few minutes. I've tried many free software programs that claim to do it, and been unsatisfied with them all. The joined pairs of video files look pristene at the joins when the two files were originally adjacent, and still look pretty darn good when the two files were not adjacent.

Now, the problem is, the Timestamp in the final resulting joined file is all screwed up. In ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater, I like to use the Seek>Time popup to jump around, and I find that jumping to different timestamps is no longer accurate in the joined file, because the joined file seems to have to same timestamps as the original capture .TS file. For example, if you capture a 1 hour TV show, then remove 30 minutes of unwanted video, then rejoin, the joined file still displays 1 hour even though it only contains 30 minutes of video.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve that problem.
Gary

Every HVR-1950 I've tried has this issue where after some time, I'll have to unplug its USB cable, unplug its power cable, plug the USB cable back in followed by the power cable.

I have to do that because any TV tuning program I try (BeyondTV, SageTV, Windows 7 Media Center, etc.) will show only a blank screen with no sound after some time (it's always different, sometimes it happens during one login session, sometimes after a couple of days, etc.).

I've turned off any power saving features in Windows and made sure that Windows does not put any USB port, controller or hub into power saving mode.

I've returned and purchased at least 5 HVR-1950s and have installed each one under a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install. All 5 HVR-1950s exhibited this issue. Two were purchased from Walmart.com, one from Dell.com, one from Newegg.com and one from Buy.com.

The HVR-1950 is the first Hauppauge I've ever used and I purchased it based on recommendations on other websites. My experience so far with Hauppauge has been poor.

I was previously using a PowerColor Theater 650 PCIe combo card (based on the ATI Theater 650 tuner chip), but had to get rid of it since I downsized to a mini-ITX PC that has only a PCIe 16x slot. The Theater 650 PCIe card worked flawlessly

Hi,
It is unclear to me what exactly "local bitrate" and "Internet bitrate" refer to,
compared to the server PC, a remote PC and an iphone.
Is "local" only for when the remote PC is on the same network?
Is "internet" only for when the remote PC is somewhere on the internet?
Are both independant or do they interact?
How are we supposed to use it?

Also I noticed that once set, the same settings act for both when accessed by a remote PC and the iphone. That sucks because obviously the speed conditions will vary a lot depending on from where I access the server PC.

Any clue please?

Hello,
I have a HVR4400 and recently purchased a winTV CI for my IRDETO card. On a fresh install of windows 7 x32 i have a problem installing the CI module. According to the instructions, the CI module should appear as "winTV-CI BDA (11xx under sound video and game controllers)" and under Universal Bus Controllers. However, in my case it appears only under the Universal Bus Controllers. I have installed the MCE plugin as well, but i have a problem decoding scrambled channels and i thought this might be the problem. Re-install doesn't work. Any ideas?

thanks

Hello,

There was a CDR disk but all it had on it was the drivers, the mce plugin exe and the wintv v7 installer, which evidently asks for the original wintv disk.

I installed the card onto my Windows 7 64 system, everything went fine and I successfully tuned all the sattelite channels into Windows Media Centre. The only problem is, when I try to actually play any channel it gives me a decoder errer, telling me that the decoder is not working, not installed or not supported.

I do have k-lite codec pack installed for all my other HTPC media playback, but it seems that this is not enough. Can anyone tell me where I can get the codecs, or do they only come with the WinTV software?

Help!
